Fiji Teachers Union General Secretary, Muniappa Goundar says many schools in Fiji are questioning the delay in receiving the 50 percent Free Education Grant for Term 2 from the Ministry of Education as we are now into the first week of Term 3.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Goundar highlighted the importance of providing quality education to children and asks how this can be achieved when resources are not fully available.

He says the Ministry of Education should release the grants at the beginning of each term and allow schools to monitor the use of funds throughout the term.

Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro had told fijivillage News last Wednesday that the remaining 50 percent of the Free Education Grants for Term two was expected to be paid out to every school by the end of last week.

The Ministry of Education has yet to respond to further questions.
