Smoke seen as you enter Lautoka from the Ba end side of the City

The Lautoka Rubbish dump in Vunato is now under 24-hour surveillance following growing concerns that people are deliberately setting the rubbish at the site on fire.

Lautoka City Council CEO, Jone Nakauvadra says they have security at the site 24/7 after the fire at the site last year.

The unauthorized burning of the Lautoka Rubbish dump in Vunato last year left smoke across Lautoka City.

He says its about 25 acres piece of land with dry rubbish and they are doing their best to ensure that it is protected from unauthorized burning.
