The quality of education and graduates we are getting in the white-collar sector is mediocre.

This was highlighted by Nitesh Chandra from Oceanic Communications during the Talanoa session with the Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations Agni Deo Singh at the Grand Pacific Hotel.

Chandra says universities are producing a lot of graduates in development, science and accounting, but the quality of these graduates is mediocre.

He says they interview about 12 to 15 applicants every month, and they cannot take them as they are not quality graduates.

Meanwhile, Minister for Employment and Industrial Relations Agni Deo Singh says they will take this issue up with the universities, and this is a real issue.

Singh also says that the Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation can set up a forum where they can get the education providers, and the employers can raise their issues with them.
