Con artists sell bars of soap as mobile phones

Please beware of con artists selling people bars of soap by saying they are mobile phones.

We have received confirmation that several people have paid over $500 for a phone and later discovered they had in fact paid for a bar of soap.

Police are requesting the public to be cautious of purchasing items off the street from unknown persons, especially if they come across an item that would be sold for a much lesser price.

According to Police a trend seen now is that a person would show a mobile phone and offers it at a ridiculously discounted price, and once the money has been exchanged they would be given the product neatly packaged.

They say upon checking at a later time the phone would be replaced with a bar of soap.
