The Land Transport Authority of Fiji has assured Fijians that it’s compulsory online registration will not prevent any LTA customer from accessing services at their branches.
LTA also confirms that any customer who visits an LTA branch and is not registered online will be registered on the spot for free by the LTA customer service officers who serve them - this is to help Fijians who may have difficulties accessing the internet.
It says this is part of LTA’s commitment to ensuring Fijians can continue to access their services in multiple ways depending on their convenience.
LTA CEO Samuel Simpson has also urged Fijians who have smartphone access to take advantage of being able to access LTA’s services online.
Simpson says instead of having to line up at one of their branches, online registration will provide Fijians the ability to pay their fines, renew their licenses, and access any of their services directly with a computer or smart device.
LTA says the online services will provide ease of access and convenience to Fijians by removing the need for long waiting times and queues, and allow for better accountability as transactions will be logged in databases and easily retrievable.
Meanwhile, LTA has already deployed 2 mobile ground teams, one in Viti Levu and one in Vanua Levu, which are registering Fijians in rural areas on a daily basis and have registered many already.
The LTA app can also be downloaded on Google Play Store and the App Store.
Some services Fijians can access online are:
Setting up a driving licence and roadworthiness expiry reminders.
Payment of Traffic Infringement Notice fines.
Booking Defensive Driving Courses.
Booking Driving Tests – Provisional and full.
Transaction details – driving record, vehicle fitness.
Fee calculator – find out what the cost of future transactions will be e.g.driving licence, roadworthiness.
