The complainant in the rape trial of a former proposed candidate of the National Federation Party has revealed that her bed broke while the accused forced her to have sex with him.

While giving evidence in the Suva High Court, the 54-year-old woman highlighted that she had told the man to leave her alone but he didn’t and also dragged her by pulling her hair after the bed had broken.

She also revealed that she was scared on the night of the alleged incident as the accused had told her that he will kill her if she yelled.

The woman who is the sister-in-law of the accused also told the court that the 66-year-old man had told her that he has already slept with some Fijian girls.

It is alleged the Nadi dentist raped his sister-in-law in Nasinu on the 28th of June last year.

It is alleged the man approached the woman and asked if he could spend the night at her house as he was too tired after a wedding and could not go back home.

The man allegedly started knocking on the woman's bedroom door in the middle of the night and then forcefully got into the room.

He then allegedly raped the woman.

Devanesh Sharma is representing the accused.
