Communication is needed in order to get out of a situation.
This is something that the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s have been constantly reminded of as they prepare for the third leg of the 2024/2025 HSBC SVNS World Series that will be held in Vancouver this weekend.
Coach Osea Kolinisau says in Perth, the team made a lot of efforts but there was no communication which proved too costly for them.
When talking about their pool opponents, Kolinisau says they are not taking any teams lightly knowing the threat that these teams produce.
He says Spain has been very consistent, and the challenge will be there for Fiji to produce against Spain who has the mentality of knocking Fiji out in the pool stage and running away clear on the points.
He adds the USA will be a threat as well as they are starting to find their stride under coach Simon Amor, and there’s Uruguay who are the giant killers of the series so far.
Kolinisau says they will treat every game as a final and do their best to maintain their spot at the top of the standings.
The Vancouver 7s will be held from this Saturday to next Monday.
Fiji will take on Uruguay at 7.18am Saturday for their first pool match, they will then meet the USA at 12.45pm on the same day before playing Spain at 6.52am Sunday in their last pool match.
The men’s cup quarter-final will kick off at 12.51pm Sunday, the cup semi-finals will begin at 8.30 am Monday and the Cup Final will kick off at 1.05 pm.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s will take on Japan at 10am Saturday in their first pool match; they will then play France at 3.52pm on the same day before playing Great Britain at 9.18am Sunday in their last pool match.
The women’s cup quarter-finals will kick off at 3.32pm Sunday, the semi-finals will begin at 9.14am on Monday, and the cup final will kick off at 1.41pm Monday.
