Supervisor of Elections, Mohammed Saneem had said that there was 51 percent voter turnout for the 2022 general elections as at 4pm on election day.
311,000 of the 606,092 people had voted by 4pm on election day based on figures received by Saneem.
Saneem said at 5pm on that day that he had predicted about 4 weeks ago that the voter turnout would be about 52 percent and says we are very close to that mark.
Saneem had said that about 290,000 people were yet to go and vote.
In his 4pm update, Saneem had said that as at 3.30pm on election day, the turnout in 1,321 polling stations was 285,845.
This was for voters voting on election day alone and the number was 285,845 for 1,321 polling stations out of the 1,435 polling stations that were operational.
