Church service for late King of Tonga tomorrow

A memorial church service for the late King George Tupou the 5th of Tonga will be held tomorrow.

The Tongan Community in Suva is inviting all to join to pay tribute and the service will be led by Father Taukei’aho Tuli of the Pacific Regional Seminary and other Tongan pastors from around Suva.

According to Reverend Ikani Tolu that though the King's reign was short, its importance will long be felt, as the King was committed to advancing a more self-determining, democratically nation.

Rev Tolu added that the King oversaw Tonga during some very difficult times and his passing will be mourned throughout the Pacific.

The service will commence at 6pm Apitonga, Laucala Bay Road.
