The collective contribution of the Chinese community to Fiji’s overall national development has been remarkably significant although the Chinese community only consists of about 4.5 percent of Fiji’s total population.
This was highlighted by the President Jioji Konrote while speaking at the celebration of the Chinese National Day and the Moon Festival at the Yat Sen School Hall.
Konrote highlighted that events as such commemorate Fiji’s diversity as a nation.
Konrote thanked the Chinese community for their individual and collective achievements and contribution to the nation.
Meanwhile, China's Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo says that China will continue to synergies its development strategy with Fiji and support the Fijian government’s efforts in tackling climate change and developing blue economy.
Bo says that since the arrival of Chinese in Fiji some 163 years ago they have established themselves through hard-work and have well integrated with the mainstream society.
The Ambassador also congratulated Jioji Konrote for his reappointment as President.
He has also revealed that Fiji will be part of the "China International Import Expo" in Shanghai in November.
