Chinese Fijian community worked alongside fellow Fijians to drive development in Fiji - Seruiratu

Our Chinese Fijian community have worked alongside their fellow Fijians to drive development and progress across our country.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Inia Seruiratu made this comment while speaking at the 2019 Spring Festival and the Chinese Lunar New Year event at the Civic Auditorium in Suva.

Seruiratu says celebrating the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Pig is an opportune time to reflect and renew the relationship that Fiji shares with China.

He also reiterated that Fiji and China continue to share close cordial relations.

While speaking at the event, Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Qian Bo highlighted that in 2018 China has made great achievements in all sectors of national development.

Bo also highlighted that 2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Peoples Republic of China and with this a few big events will unfold throughout the year in Fiji to mark the auspicious milestone.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Jone Usamate and Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho were also present at the event.

The event was hosted by Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo brought together more than a hundred guests which included a cultural performance by various groups.
