Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Qian Bo and Minister for Local government Premila Kumar and Sigatoka Special Administrators.

A grant of $90 000 has been given by the Chinese government for the completion of an Amphitheatre on the riverbank of Sigatoka Town.

Minister for Local government Premila Kumar says this grant will ensure Sigatoka Town continues its plan of beautification works.

These works began with the launch of the Melrose Bridge lighting and the unveiling of the Sigatoka Stallion statue as part of Fiji50 celebrations.

Kumar says work on the 100 seat Amphitheatre has begun and it will attract ratepayers, tourists and visitors to the Sigatoka riverside for concerts and civic events.

She says the funds from the Chinese government will also contribute to the converting of the Mission Road Carpark.

There will also be a cafe and washroom next to the Amphitheatre.
