Chinese Ambassador to Fiji, Xian Bo says currently the China-Fiji relationship is at its best in history and has become the model for relations between China and the rest of the Pacific.
Bo highlighted this at the 45th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Fiji.
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama and his wife Mary were also in attendance to mark the occasion.
Bo says political trust between the two countries has strengthened over the years and China has become an important source of tourists, trade and foreign investment for Fiji.
He says compared to 45 years ago, the potential for cooperation between the two countries is far greater and he is confident that relations will embrace new opportunities.
Permanent Secretary at the Office of the Prime Minister, Yogesh Karan says Fiji has benefited greatly through the partnership with Chine in various fields including agriculture, infrastructure, defence, health, trade and tourism, education and sports.
Karan says China helped Fiji when they were battling with their own problems which is a testament to their staunch commitment to Fiji.
