China Embassy in Fiji donates $40,000 to Women’s Ministry

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Fiji has given a donation of $40,000 to the Ministry for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation to assist with the procurement of equipment to be utilized in Age Care Homes.

Minister Mereseini Vuniwaqa acknowledged the assistance provided by the Chinese Government and reassured Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhang Ping that the Ministry will continue to work closely with the Embassy in its future endeavors’.

The Embassy also donated a laptop and a Desktop computer that will be utilised by the Mahaffy Girls Home in Domain.

This donation is a continuation of the Chinese Government’s support to the work of the Ministry which in the past has seen the supply of sewing machines and fabrics for various women’s groups.

Vuniwaqa and Ambassador Zhang Ping also discussed the possibility of further assistance and support by the Government of the People’s Republic of China towards sustainable income generating projects for the empowerment of women and alleviation of poverty in Fiji.
