Children’s deaths also due to nutritional deficiency – Dr Kado

The deaths of the 420 children under 5 last year were also due to nutritional deficiency.

Dr Joseph Kado, Paediatrician CWM hospital, gave this clarification after being questioned by Fijivillage on the high number quoted by him.

He quoted an example where under nutrition is associated with children dying from diarrhoea or pneumonia.

Meanwhile, in a statement at the Save The Children Race for Survival this week, Dr Kado had revealed that 420 children under the age of 5 die in Fiji from malnutrition.
