The Chiefs have qualified for the 2023 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific semi finals after holding off a determined Queensland Reds side 29-20 tonight.
The Reds started strong with Suliasi Vunivalu scoring the first try of the match and giving the visitors a 5-0 lead.
Damien McKenzie slotted in three penalties to put the Chiefs ahead of the Reds.
Harry Wilson’s try in the 34th minute put the visitors back in front, but Emoni Narawa crossed over the white line before half-time to give the host-side the lead before the break.
McKenzie converted another two penalties in the second half, while Pita Gus Sowakula sealed the Chiefs victory, scoring a try in the 75th minute.
Vunivalu scored his second try in the second half, but it was not enough to give the Reds the victory they wanted.
Meanwhile, the Blues defeated the Waratahs 41-12 last night.
The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will meet the Crusaders at 7.05 tonight and the Brumbies will face the Hurricanes at 9.35 tonight.
