The Chiefs understand they have to improve if they are to stand any chance of lifting the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman trophy next month.
After finishing runners-up to the Crusaders in the Super Rugby Aotearoa, the Waikato-based side is currently the worst-placed NZ franchise against their Australian counterparts.
If all NZ teams remain unbeaten across the five rounds, spots in the final will be determined by points differential.
The Chiefs are currently in fifth place with the smallest points differential of 22 points, the Hurricanes are in second place with a point differential of 38 and the Blues are first with 74.
Chiefs midfielder Anton Lienert-Brown says even though the scoreboard looks good, they have their own standard and they can do better.
He says they are a lot of room for improvements and they are chasing perfection.
After the first two rounds of competition, the New Zealand teams hold a perfect 10-0 winning record over their Australian counterparts.
The Chiefs will travel to Townsville this week to meet the Reds at 9.45pm Saturday.
In other matches, the Hurricanes will take on the Western Force at 7.05pm Friday, the Waratahs will host the Crusaders at 5.05pm Saturday, the Blues will face the Brumbies at 7.15pm Saturday and the Highlanders will play the Rebels at 2.35pm Sunday.
