The Chiefs are determined to not simply be another chapter in a growing Crusaders legacy, but instead, write themselves into the Super Rugby history books.
After going back-to-back in 2012-13, they have endured a 10-year trophy drought, but are on the verge of finally ending their dry spell.
Chiefs coach Clayton McMillan took over the side in 2021 but the Chiefs will contest their first final in a decade at FMG Stadium against the competition's perennial winners.
McMillan says the coaching group and team have been together for the last 2-3 years.
The coach thinks they have a real chance to create a little bit of a legacy and it starts tomorrow.
He says the last couple of weeks have been the toughest, because they went up against opposition that were good teams and they have earned the opportunity to play at home.
While the table-topping Chiefs have been the competition's form side, with only one defeat all season, the reigning champion Crusaders are peaking at the right time.
Their 52-13 demolition of the Blues in the semi-finals is just the latest example of their ability to find another gear in knockout games.
The Chiefs play the Crusaders at 7.05pm tomorrow at the FMG stadium, Waikato.
