Check your Electricity bills-Consumer Council

"Please check your Electricity bills."

That is the word from the Consumer Council to the Fiji Electricity Authority customers to thoroughly check their bills for at least the last six months.

Consumer Council CEO, Premila Kumar said that they have received complaints from customers where FEA had overcharged on the additional security deposit.

Meanwhile FEA said that they have reviewed the consumer security deposit for its customers in September, last year.

Acting Chief Executive, Eparama Tawake said that due to the increase in electricity tariffs, the deposits held against the consumers’ bills were no longer sufficient in most cases.

For customers, that needed to pay additional deposit, the authority decided to stagger the payments in six months starting in September.
