Shakuntala Chand has been announced as the sweetest woman in Fiji for making a 20.4kg barfi in the Navtarang and Radio Sargam Sabse Badi Mithai Competition during the Diwali Dhamaka Show at Rups Mega in Nakasi.

A sweets record has also been set in Fiji.

62-year-old Chand says it took her almost 2 days to make the barfi.

The Valelevu resident is encouraging others who make sweets to take part in such competitions and show their talent.

Sandhya Sharma of Naitata, Navua came in second with her 17 inches laddoo while Ashnita Devi’s 11kg modak won her third place.

Chand has won $500, Sharma has won $300 while Devi wins $200. They also received FMF gift hampers.

The competition was sponsored by Vodafone’s Vitikart and FMF Sabse Badi Mithai.

Meanwhile, Fijians are turning out in numbers for the Diwali Dhamaka Show where they will get to see their favourite radio personalities take the stage with some of the best performers in Fiji.

The Vitikart sponsored Dance Off final is underway.
