The appeal case of New Zealand based lawyer Rajendra Chaudhry who was found guilty of one count of contempt of court has been adjourned to January next year by the Fiji Court of Appeal.
Chaudhry was ordered to pay a fine of $50,000 and sentenced to 15 months imprisonment earlier this year.
Chaudhry was convicted for making defamatory comments on Facebook against the former Chief Justice, Anthony Gates, Judge Justice Yohan Liyanage and the Fijian Judiciary as a whole.
The matter has been adjourned to the 29th of January next year where the court will fix a hearing date.
