Fiji Airways Fiji Men’s 7s winger Filipe Sauturaga will be another player that Fiji will look up to this weekend as a game-breaker after an outstanding performance in the HSBC Dubai 7s last week.
The 30-year-old was in top form in Dubai and scored a total of 44 points in six matches which included 4 tries and 12 conversions.
He was also named the Player of the Final after helping the team beat Spain 19-5 in the Cup final to secure their first Dubai 7s title in 9 years and also break their 22 tournaments losing streak.
Despite being exposed defensively on a few occasions in the final, Sauturaga had some real game-breaking moments with the ball in hand.
The Policeman will look to repeat that performance this weekend and hopefully help his side secure a back-to-back victory, a feat that the team has not had for quite a while now.
Fiji will kick off their Cape Town 7s campaign against Uruguay at 12.38am on Sunday and meet Great Britain at 4.38am on Sunday for their second pool match.
The Men’s Cup semi-finals are set to start at 11.56pm on Sunday, with the cup final taking place at 5.11am on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s team will play both of their games on Saturday night, facing the USA at 7pm and Great Britain at 10.16pm.
