Cane farmers to receive third cane payment tomorrow

Cane farmers will receive their third 2020 cane payment of $8.37 per tonne tomorrow.

The Sugar Industry Tribunal says this will bring the total amount to $59.70 per tonne paid to farmers.

A balance of $25.30 will be left to be paid to the growers for the 2020 crop.

Meanwhile, the National Farmers Union had called on FSC to pay cane farmers their third cane payment before tomorrow.

NFU General Secretary, Mahendra Chaudhry says the Sugar Industry Master Award requires the Corporation to make the payment by 31st March.
