Caginivalu, Naita, Tewa, Boletakanakadavu and Rauqe to take part in the Oceania Athletics Championship

2024 Coca-Cola Blue Ribbon champions, Semesa Caginivalu of Suva Grammar School and Domitila Naita of Adi Cakobau School along with Queen Victoria School sprinter Senirusi Rauqe are some of the notable names that have been selected into Team Fiji’s under 20 squad for the Oceania Athletics Championships that will begin in Suva this Saturday.

Some other notable names in the under 20 squad include Grammar’s Aisake Manna and Iva Fifita, Natabua High School’s Frances Tuva and Adi Cakobau School’s Melania Ranadi.

Former Nakasi High School sprinter Waiseka Tewa and former Blue Ribbon champion and MGM High School sprinter Kesaia Boletakanakadavu have also been included in the senior grade.

Athletics Fiji has named a total of 201 athletes which are from the 4 grades that will be participating in the championship and they are the under 16s, under 18s, under 20s and the senior team. There are a total of 55 athletes in the under 16s, 58 athletes in the under 18s, 51 athletes in the under 20s and 37 athletes in the senior grade.

Day 1 of the championship will begin at 9am with the Women’s Hammer throw finals.

The track events will begin at 1pm with the under 18 Women’s 100 metres hurdles. The tournament will be held from this Saturday to next Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
