Minister for Health Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete says they are currently going through transitions at the CWM Hospital because they need to change it.
This was highlighted by Dr Waqainabete when he was questioned on the deplorable state of the CWM Hospital.
He says because of COVID-19 they could not do phase 2 of the maternity ward which is 200 beds.
Waqainabete says they are aiming to begin this project within the next 2 months, highlighting that they have also renovated the whole Emergency Department with more than $1 million.
He says if people look at the car park, there is $1.1 million worth of work there, and the theatre and ICU were renovated a few years back.
The Minister says once the 200 bed facility is up then they can start moving away from the old part of the hospital.
He says people should also be mindful of the fact that there is work being done in other hospitals around Fiji with Lautoka Hospital just being handed over to Aspen.
Waqainabete says they have completed the multi million dollar work on the theatres in Lautoka and the Emergency Department as well as the X-Ray Department.
