Concerned Fijians have raised the issue of the shortage of beds at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital as some have said they have resorted to lying on benches and chairs while waiting for bed space to free up at times.
When questioned by fijivillage News on the issue, CWM Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Luke Nasedra says they are trying to move some patients to the sub-divisional hospitals so that they can be closer to home and also free up some beds.
Dr Nasedra adds there is a bed management system in place that ensures they make use of all the available beds at CWM Hospital.
The Medical Superintendent states these are some of the measures they are putting in to place now as they are moving away from using other facilities like Twomey Hospital in Tamavua.
