The operators of Forsyth Barr Stadium have been forced to slash staffing levels in half as a result of the coronavirus crisis and loss of All Blacks and Highlanders fixtures.
Dunedin Venues Management Limited, which runs Forsyth Barr Stadium and other venues in the city, announced on Friday that 16 out of its 32 full-time employees had to go, while the remainder "have agreed to an immediate and indefinite reduction in salary,a shorter working week and to take a period of leave".
CEO Terry Davis has taken a 20 per cent pay cut.
The Highlanders' iconic home stadium had been due to host the All Blacks v Scotland test on July 18 as part of a double header with the Black Ferns, but that chances of that test going ahead as planned are extremely low.
