Communications Fiji Limited’s subsidiary PNG FM (100 percent owned), Papua New Guinea’s leading broadcaster, has completed it’s move to their new home in Port Moresby.
CFL is the parent company of FM96, LegendFM, VitiFM, Navtarang, Radio Sargam and fijivillage.
The total cost of construction was 10 million Kina with the land having been purchased in 2021 for 5 million Kina.
CFL Chairman, William Parkinson says the new studio complex features the latest in digital broadcast equipment and sets PNGFM up with the tools to fully utilise an interactive multi media platform to further enhance our media products both on air and online.
Construction of PNGFM’s new office complex commenced in May 2023 and the project was completed on time and on budget.
Parkinson says this has been a long time dream and they are thrilled that they can open in time for their 30th Anniversary in Papua New Guinea on November 14th.
He says timing is critical in the PNG market and they believe they have been able to take full advantage of prevailing market conditions.
Parkinson says they purchased the land in the middle of the COVID-19 crisis and were able to complete construction at a time when the PNG market is somewhat slow.
They are now well positioned in readiness for the economic growth expected once the resource projects such as Papua LNG & Wafi Gold Mine commence in 2025.
PNGFM General Manager, Rosemarie Botong says their team is very excited about the new opportunities that are in front of them.
Botong says they are looking forward to growing the radio stations Nau FM, YUMI FM and Legend FM and their news portal PNG Haus Bung.
Parkinson adds to complete a project like this on time and on budget without any significant hiccups is a tribute to the PNGFM team supported by their contractors and advisors.
The complex will be formally opened on November 14th as part of PNGFM’s 30th birthday celebrations.
