The five radio stations of Communications Fiji Limited continue to dominate the country’s radio market according to the independent 2012 Tebutt Media Survey result released today.

FM96 and Legend FM are the top English stations.

FM96 recorded a massive 53.6% listenership while Legend FM is the next dominant radio station in the market recording 20.4% listenership.

Navtarang recorded 34.3% listenership, Sargam 22.7% and Viti FM had 37.5% listenership.

According to the independent survey, 98% of the people said they listened to the radio.

It has been revealed that 89.8% of radio listeners surveyed listened to one of CFL’s five radio stations over a seven day period.

In 2011, the total CFL radio listenership was 88.5%.

CFL Managing Director William Parkinson said the latest result is a massive number, it sets a new record, and the CFL team is absolutely delighted.

Surveys were conducted in February and March this year covering the greater Suva area, Nadi, Lautoka and Ba and focused on respondents 14 years and up.

CFL’s General Manager Ian Jackson said the company is particularly pleased to see a significant increase in listenership to Legend FM which extended its lead over rival stations in the mature western market and lifted it to second in the English market behind FM96.
