South Pacific’s largest broadcast organisation, Communications Fiji Ltd, which is the parent company of Legend FM, FM96, Viti FM, Navtarang, Radio Sargam and fijivillage.com has announced that despite the current crisis, CFL is on track to deliver a before tax group profit between $800,000 to $1 million for this year.

This has been highlighted by the Chairman of the CFL Board, William Parkinson during the company’s Annual General Meeting today.

Parkinson says the company has entered these difficult times with strong balance sheets in both markets and their broadcast and digital platforms are all market leaders.

He says the investment they have made in their digital products are paying significant dividends, with fijivillage.com now averaging between 1 to 1.2 million page views per week.

Parkinson says fijivillage is the most viewed news website in the country.

He says the Fiji and PNG teams are rapidly learning how to fully exploit the audience reach of their top ranking radio stations and online products.

Parkinson also says CFL remains cash positive and holds significant reserves.

Parkinson says in the coming months they will be looking out for growth options.

He also says CFL has a proud history of raising funds for charity, however the challenges we face this year are very different both in scale and the length of the crisis.

Parkinson says the CFL teams in Fiji and PNG have responded by creating Hands Across Fiji and Barter for Better PNG social media platforms.

He says as a further commitment, the CFL Fiji Board has just approved a plan prepared by the management team to establish a charitable foundation to support the various activities on a permanent basis.
