Communications Fiji Limited Group which is the parent company of LegendFM, FM96, VitiFM, Navtarang and Radio Sargam made a record after tax profit of $2.922 million for 2017.
This was highlighted by new CFL Board Chairman and co-founder William Parkinson at the Annual General Meeting earlier today.
He adds that shareholders received dividends of 20 cents per share in 2017 plus a special dividend of 33 cents per share paid from the proceeds of the sale of the company’s shares in iPAC Communications Fiji Limited.
He adds that their focus for this year is to look for new investment opportunities for the company adding they expect the core radio business in Fiji and PNG to continue to grow.
Parkinson also paid tribute to co-founder and retiring Chairman, Matt Wilson who was the Chairman for more than six years and was farewelled today.
Parkinson says the company would not be here today without Wilson’s contributions at critical times during the company’s history.
In his farewell remarks at the AGM, Wilson said that CFL is a fount of hope, charity, togetherness for its listeners and it also saves lives.
Wilson says that all this comes from its heart and, from its love for Fiji.
He also highlighted that over the last 15 years, CFL has helped causes with more than $1 million.
Wilson also thanked former Director Hari Punja who was integral to the founding and development of this business.
He also recalled that Parkinson approached him as a 23-year-old touting what might have been an impossible dream and he never wavered and CFL became his life.
