Byrne utilising every opportunity to create depth in the squad

Fiji Water Flying Fijians coach Mick Byrne is making use of every opportunity he gets to look for new talents and create depths in his squad building up to the next Rugby World Cup.

After naming his final squad for the upcoming November tour, Byrne highlighted the importance of having new players come into the squad to prepare them for the void that will be left by some of the players who are coming towards the end of their international careers.

Byrne had named 4 new players in the likes of Waqa Nalaga, Saimoni Uluinakauvadra, Ratu Penaia Cakobau and Kemu Valetini who are likely to make their international debut during the tour.

Byrne says they are in a transition between World Cups and they have had some of the players that have played three World Cups.

He says they have got to make sure that everyone is given an opportunity to show that they can take the step to the next level.

He adds the sooner these young players can start playing, the sooner the coaching team can either help them get better or find out where they sit in the squad and build them for the future.

The Flying Fijians will take on Scotland on the 2nd of November in their first test before playing Wales on the 10th of November. They will then take on Spain on the 17th of November in their 3rd test and will play Ireland on the 23rd of November.
