Swire Shipping Fijian Drua coach Mick Byrne has applied for the position of Fiji Water Flying Fijians Head Coach.
This was confirmed to fijivillage News by the Fijian Drua management.
The Drua says they will not make any further comments as it's only fair to allow due process by the FRU to take its course.
Meanwhile, FRU High Performance Unit General Manager Barrie Jon Mathers says they had a very long list of applicants who were interested in the top job and it has now been reduced to four applicants who have been shortlisted.
Mathers says they are planning to have another round of interviews and bring in those who are shortlisted to experience the culture and make some connections with the unions and the players as well.
He says they are looking for someone who has international experience and someone who knows what the environment is like.
He adds former coach Simon Raiwalui has shown what it’s like to be in a RWC quarter final, so they are looking for someone who will know what it’s like to be in a semi final.
Meanwhile, the Flying Fijians will play the Barbarians on the 22nd of June and then take on the All Blacks on the 20th of July this year.
