False promises made to cassava farmers is a challenge that the Tavioka Growers Association is looking to address.
Association President, Josaia Rayawa says buyers make promises to farmers to purchase their produce but they do not turn up when it is time to harvest.
He says this makes the farmers not trust people who maybe genuine buyers.
Rayawa adds this why there is an association to address issues faced by farmers and provide solutions accordingly.
Another challenge highlighted is the supply of cassava to local and international markets being affected by COVID-19.
Rayawa says the association is creating an environment for farmers to utilize their lands effectively without any hassle, by identifying challenges and solving it.
