Nadi Chamber of Commerce President Doctor Ram Raju.

Nadi Chamber of Commerce President Doctor Ram Raju says the reopening of restaurants and other businesses will certainly generate much needed economic activities and more importantly provide employment to all their staff who were all eagerly waiting for the opening.

Dr Raju says the business houses in Nadi are absolutely elated with the re-opening and members have reported a good number of patrons in most restaurants.

He says all of them are operating at 70% capacity, COVID protocols are strictly adhered to with clearly marked facilities displayed at entrances, temperatures are being recorded, vaccination cards inspected, masks are worn and hand sanitizers provided.

Dr Raju says during the long closure many outlets took the opportunity of renovating their premises.

He says they are optimistic that eventually restrictions would be lifted which will reestablish the livelihoods of thousands of Fijians.

Dr Raju adds the dark and uncertain days have finally come to an end and its an opportune time for everyone to start recouping losses and planning for the future.

He is also urging bus companies to start their regular bus routes as people have found it difficult and expensive to travel to town for shopping or work.

Dr Raju says they hope the speed of vaccination continues to the desired level as predicted to allow the opening of international borders and quarantine free travel.
