The CEO of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission, Joel Abraham says the idea is not only about brand loyalty but is also about enhancing consumer experience through providing trust especially in the virtual space.
While speaking in the E-Commerce and Consumer Protection Workshop, Abraham says with the emergence of online trading as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of people were selling their shoes and clothes and there were people who would buy it.
He says although the shopping experience has changed from a physical setting to a virtual setting, that has not taken away consumer protection enforcement or the requirements of how to behave ethically under the current consumer protection framework.
Abraham says they have also released self regulatory guidelines on E-commerce to educate people and get everybody in the market to understand the rights and responsibilities of consumers and traders.
