The Bua and Macuata Rugby Unions received a boost to their Vodafone Vanua Cup Championship and Skipper Cup campaigns respectively after both Unions signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Fiji Pine Limited today.
Fiji Pine Limited also gave a $40,000 sponsorship to both Unions.
Bua is participating in the Vodafone Vanua Championship and Macuata is playing in the Skipper Cup competition.
Fiji Pine Limited says the MoU will ensure that all parties work in collaboration for the provision of financial support to meet both teams’ essential needs during their participation.
They say it will also enable both unions to continue to develop rugby for both young men and women to achieve their rugby dreams, and help prepare them to progress and embrace opportunities for a better future for themselves and their families through employment and to secure rugby contracts locally and abroad.
They add that the money will be progressively released as per the funds request from the two unions.
While Fiji Pine Limited will provide financial assistance for Macuata Rugby's senior men, U20s and women’s teams and its Farebrother Trophy challenge matches, Bua Rugby’s sponsorship deal will help them in the 2024 Vanua Cup competition, and its U20 men’s team.
The MOU was today signed in Bua between Fiji Pine Group of Companies Executive Chairman Ratu Rakuita Vakalalabure and Fiji Pine Limited’s Operations Manager Vanua Levu, Maniata Tasere, and Bua Rugby President Tevita Robanakadavu, Seru Vakawaletabua (Chairman), and Macuata Rugby’s General Manager Marketing, Nacanieli Ledua.
