Bridge repairs are now well underway in the district of Wainunu in Bua.
Fiji Roads Authority contractors Fulton Hogan Hiways says that this work includes the layering of stones on the embankment slopes to prevent erosion.
Fulton Hogan Hiways Renewals and Project Engineer North, Joe Ma'afu, says that their six‑member crew has completed work on two bridges and they are now working on the third bridge.
The completed bridges are in Nakawakawa and Nakorolevu, while current work is being carried out on Daria Bridge.
Ma'afu has confirmed that the work on Daria Bridge may take several months to complete, adding that the completion of the work is heavily dependent on dry weather as well as rising water levels of the Daria River during extreme wet weather periods.
