A boy who was shown in a video dancing with a kitten before throwing it into the bushes has been warned by Police and will now have to be engaged in community service as well as make a donation to animal welfare organisation – Animals Fiji.
The person who took the video will also have to do the same.
Animals Fiji reported the matter to Police after concerned members of the public brought it to their attention.
Apart from reporting the matter, Animals Fiji also tracked down the employers of the two people.
The employer has immediately taken possession of the kitten who is in good health.
The two people will be required to spend one full day of community service with Animals Fiji at their Nadi shelter where their staff will educate them about animal rights, animal feelings and the correct way to treat and care for Fiji’s precious animals.
They will also be making a $100 donation from their wages this week to Animals Fiji to support the further education of animal welfare in schools and communities.
Animals Fiji has applauded the employer for handling the situation quickly and in a way they believe will bring lifelong impact and change to the way these young adults treat and view animals.
