Police say bookings for failure to wear a mask in a public place remains high despite repeated calls made by the Ministry of Health on the need for Fijians to remain cautious.
Of the 243 Public Health Infringement Notices issued over the last 48-hours, failure to wear a mask accounted for 195 bookings.
Failure to wear a mask in a public service vehicle accounted for 40 bookings while 8 bookings were made for breach of curfew.
Police say they reiterate the message from the Ministry of Health that the easing of restrictions is needed to facilitate social and economic livelihood and the public must ensure that together with vaccination, we should continue to closely observe our COVID safe measures.
They say failure to comply will result in an on the spot fine.
