The Highlanders will need a bonus-point victory and a massive score margin against the Brumbies to book a place in the Super Rugby Trans-Tasman final.
After picking up a record-breaking 59-23 victory over the Waratahs last Saturday, the Highlanders have emerged from nowhere to place themselves into title contention.
Coach Clarke Dermody has made it clear that they will not be focusing on the variation of how they can make the final, but rather on how they can win each game they play.
If they pick up a bonus-point win against the Brumbies in Canberra this weekend, the Highlanders would move into first place however, should the Blues win as expected, the Highlanders’ chances of qualification would hinge on how many points the Crusaders can pile on against the Melbourne Rebels, as their points difference is only 11 points higher than that of the reigning Super Rugby Aotearoa champions.
The Highlanders will meet the Brumbies at 9.45pm Friday.
In other matches, the Hurricanes will face the Reds at 7.05pm Friday, the Rebels will host the Crusaders at 4:35pm Saturday, the Blues will take on Western Force at 7.05pm Saturday and the Waratahs will face the Chiefs at 9.45pm Saturday.
