Napolioni Bolaca will be joining the Fiji Airways Men’s 7s squad after the Fiji Rugby Union and Swire Shipping Fijian Drua ended his secondment with the Super Rugby Pacific franchise.
This will allow Bolaca to join the Fijian 7s squad to prepare for the major assignments later this year.
Drua CEO Brian Thorburn says they have taken this decision in the best interest of all parties, and at the request of Coach Ben Gollings.
He says it allows Bolaca to return to enjoying rugby in a familiar environment, where he has had massive success.
Fiji Rugby CEO John O’Connor says they thank the Fijian Drua for taking Bolaca through the rigours of Super Rugby, and he will be better for it.
He says the man from Yasawa will return to fight for a place in the national 7s squads for the rest of the World Rugby 7s series, the upcoming Rugby World Cup and the Commonwealth Games assignments.
O’Connor adds he used the word ‘fight’ because there will be intense competition for spots in the 7s team.
The CEO says all the new players this season won’t easily give up their hard-earned positions.
The Fiji 7s team are preparing for the upcoming Toulouse 7s in France from the 20th to the 22nd of this month while the Fijian Drua will meet Hurricanes in the Super Rugby Pacific at 3.35pm this Sunday.
