Olympic gold medalist and former Fijian Drua squad member, Napolioni Bolaca who has created many memorable moments for us during the Olympic Games win in Tokyo, needs the support of fellow Fijians as he has to get an ACL surgery done costing around NZD$30,000 with incidental costs.
In a video posted on facebook by the former Acting CEO of the Fiji Rugby Union, Tevita Tuiloa, 26 year old Bolaca says he does not have that kind of money and he has been struggling with a torn ACL injury in his right knee from around last year.
Bolaca has been unable to play professional rugby because of this injury.
The good news is that the surgery in New Zealand can fix his injury and he can go back to playing the sport he loves and supporting his young family.
After a 6 month recovery period following the knee surgery, Bolaca says he will be ready to represent Fiji and hopefully make the team to defend the Olympic gold medal in Paris next year.
Bolaca’s partner is the Fijiana Olympic bronze medal winner, Laisana Likuceva, and they have a 1 month old son, Mesake.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by loyal rugby fans Mals Nauluvula and Salote Bokini to assist Napolioni Bolaca with his surgery.
Please lend him a helping hand. Click here to access the GoFundMe link.
We are also trying to speak to the Fiji Rugby Union and the Fijian Drua on whether there are any plans to assist Bolaca.
