Cabinet has approved the re-establishment of the Board of Governors for thirteen Government Schools, including two primary and eleven secondary schools.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says the role of this Board is to provide effective oversight into the management and governance of a Government school.
He says the Board of Governors were abolished in 2015.
Rauka says the 13 schools include Delainamasi Government School, Natabua Primary School, Adi Cakobau School, Bucalevu Secondary School, Labasa College, Levuka Public School, Nasinu Secondary School, Natabua High School, Queen Victoria School, Ratu Kadavulevu School, Sila Central High School, Suva Grammar School and Vunisea Secondary School.
He also highlighted that Cabinet has approved the second amendment to the Grant Agreement with the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, in relation to Phase II of the rehabilitation of Queen Victoria School.
He says the amendment will extend the duration of Phase II from 31st December 2022 to 31st July 2023.
The Prime Minister says currently, construction is at its finishing stages with the structural shell completed, including installation of roof framing for the school.
