After their first win in 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa, the Blues are now forced to relocate after a seven-day lockdown was declared for Auckland.
This is after a new local case of the coronavirus of unknown origin emerged in NZ.
Blues CEO Andrew Hore says the players have completed health checks and will be stuck in their hotel until everything comes back negative.
Hore says once cleared, the plan is to shift the team to South Waikato where they can take the right precautions and create a bubble for themselves and continue with their training.
The Blues are on a bye this week which is a bit of good news for them but a small factor that comes with shifting games out of Auckland and playing behind closed doors is the economic impact it takes on the club.
The Blues and the Crusaders are tied with 4 points after an impressive outing in the first week of Super Rugby Aotearoa.
The Blues are leading due to points difference.
The Crusaders are second followed by the Chiefs, the Highlanders and the Hurricanes.
The Chiefs will take on the Highlanders at 6.05pm Friday and the Crusaders will face the Hurricanes at 6.05pm Saturday.
