Biman Prasad wants salaries to be set by a parliamentary committee

Opposition parliamentarian, Biman Prasad said the salaries of the President, the Prime Minister, the Leader of Opposition and MP’s should be set by a parliamentary committee.

Prasad has raised concern on the difference in the salaries of the Ministers and the Leader of Opposition.

The NFP Leader also said comparisons will also be made now by the opposition and they will await the appointment of the Parliamentary Committee to look into all these matters.

Under the Parliamentary Remunerations Decree, parliament may, by resolution appoint a committee to make a determination on the salaries. 

Finance Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Opposition Leader Ro Teimumu Kepa will comment later.
