Bill Beaumont is fighting back, releasing his vision for the election battle with Agustin Pichot to be World Rugby chairman.
Incumbent Beaumont, the former England lock, is even promising an independent review of the organisation's governance should he be re-elected.
In confirming his late bid, Pichot, the former Argentina halfback, and current vice-chairman is putting heat on his boss with a fresh vision aimed at the new generation.
Just as suddenly Beaumont is talking up change as the sport gets an opportunity to hit the reset button amid the upheaval of the coronavirus pandemic.
