The 110 residents of Savutalele settlement, off Princes Road in Tacirua, now have access to better water supply after the completion of hydraulic mains improvement works in their area.
Over the years, with the increase in population the residents have relied on water supplied via a small water main, but now the demand has also increased.
A $365,708 water project has now seen the installation of the new, approximately 890 metre pipeline, along with the installation of two air valves and a pressure regulating valve, as well as two washout valves.
The completed water project has improved conditions for the Savutalele residents, as over the years, they have been obtaining water from a system with an intermittent supply during peak hours.
Water Authority Chief Operating Officer, Samanmal Ekanayake, says the settlement now enjoys a consistent supply of water that should withstand dry seasons, and an improved, water system performance.
