A beneficiation plant is currently being installed at the Votua bauxite mining site in Lekutu, Bua.

In this process the bauxite is screened and washed to remove fine particles.

It is then placed on stockpile before being loaded onto the ships.

XINFA Aurum Explorations Fiji Limited Mine Manager, Basilio Vanuaca says the bauxite extracted at the Votua site is mixed with soil compared to Nawailevu.

Vanuaca says it is estimated that three million tonnes of stock are ready to undergo this process before the pure bauxite is shipped to the main market in China.

400,000 tonnes of bauxite is expected to be extracted from this site and it is expected to rake in about $16 million in revenue.
