Baulevu residence facing water problems for last 3 weeks

Residence of Baulevu, Nausori have been facing water problems for 3 weeks now. 

A resident of Koroqaqa, Baulevu Vasu Dewan said they are facing great difficulties as they have to send their children to school and they also have to go to work.

Dewan said for the past three weeks they receive water supply for only an hour in 12 hours and the pressure is low.

He said they have been facing low water pressure problem for 3 to 4 years.

Dewan said now they are not receiving water for up to 12 hours and more.

Water Authority of Fiji said urgent work continues by the Water Authority Team to address low pressure problem in water supply for areas around Baulevu.

The Chief Executive Officer of WAF Opetaia Ravai said there is a possibility of a leak in the main water supply.

Ravai said due to the complexity of the network and the antiquated pipes which is about 50 years old makes the problem difficult.

Ravai said there is no definite timetable when full water supply will be restored.

He said water carting will continue as a temporary measure until supply is fully restored.
